Crosswalk ATL
advocating for the marginalized

Roy's Story
We had the privilege of walking with Roy for over two years—through every hospital visit, every moment of confusion, every hard decision. Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and living with a mental disability while also experiencing homelessness, Roy’s needs were deep and complex. But he wasn’t just a client to us—he was family.

We advocated for his medical care, helped manage his appointments, sat with him through the hard days, and made sure he never felt alone. Even when systems failed him, we didn’t. When the time came, we helped secure a hospice facility where Roy could spend his final days with peace and dignity—not in isolation, but in safety, warmth, and love.

Roy’s life—and the love we shared with him—reminds us why this work matters. Everyone deserves to be seen. Everyone deserves someone who won’t give up on them.
